Job Description

The mission of the Office for Public Good Strategy and Research (OPG) is to advance institutional readiness for collaboration among students staff faculty and community partners for public good discovery. The OPG is situated in Academic Affairs which embodies DUs public good vision by advancing collaboration that supports intellectual inquiry integrative learning and public good discovery. OPG programs and initiatives contribute directly to Public Good Strategy and Research and High Impact Practices (HIPs) advancing transdisciplinary collaboration through community engagement signature work regeneration leadership and health strategies. These efforts apply DUs four-dimensional (4D) experience to emphasize intellectual growth civic health character development and purposeful careers.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director supports the mission of the OPG by managing operations for all programs centers and initiatives and contributing to strategic planning. This role supervises the Operations team oversees budget monitoring and compliance and ensures efficient workflow and reporting. The Assistant Director exercises independent judgment to meet OPG objectives and reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Public Good Strategy & Research.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise operations staff and student employees to ensure effective workflow and support for programming.
  • Lead continuous improvement of operational processes and systems.
  • Monitor and report on budgets providing actionable insights to program leaders and ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Oversee financial processes including reimbursements stipends purchasing student and adjunct hiring and grant reporting.
  • Manage internal grant and award processes including application workflows disbursement and reporting.
  • Collaborate with campus partners such as BSA and Financial Aid to support financial and administrative operations.
  • Partner with program directors to align operational support with program goals.
  • Maintain organized records and oversee data collection for reporting and evaluation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team integration and success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 35 years of related experience
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in a related field
  • Experience in financial or business management or higher education operations
  • Experience building and supporting operations teams and workflows
  • Knowledge of Banner and Kronos

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 10.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $65000-$66000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
