Description

  • This position is part of global inventory accounting team to lead activities related to Global Non-production and Industrial Material Inventory accounting including books (monthly) close process establishing annual obsolescence reserve rates for plants across globe manage all Inventory accounting policies provide guidance to team on accounting topics support I-ERP accounting launches present in project governance meeting and ensure delivering established KPIs. To manage about five-member team in India and to interact with cross functional teams across the globe.

Location Onsite - Sholinganallur Chennai

Reporting To General Manager Inventory Accounting



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory Accounting Management:
    • Lead the accounting processes related to Global non-production inventory ensuring accurate valuation and reporting
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards including GAAP
    • Assist/manage with other inventory accounting processes as needed
    • Monitor and assess performance and key performance metrics of the team
    • Present to global accounting directors on projects KPIs policies changes etc.
    • Proactively follow up on identified issues status updates and address any questions or requests for clarification from leadership
  2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and analyze monthly quarterly and annual financial reports related to inventory processes
    • Provide insights into inventory levels trends and variances to support strategic decision-making
  3. Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with company policies
    • Perform periodic reviews of inventory processes to identify areas for improvement
    • Familiar with Inventory policies and address queries from users. Lead policy manuals for the entire inventory accounting.
    • Review and support quality and on time account reconciliations and sub-ledgers processes
    • Support various audits and control self-assessments
  4. Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline inventory accounting processes


Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Chartered Accountant or Cost and Management Accounting is preferred
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in accounting roles
  • US GAAP and IFRS knowledge is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and inventory accounting practices
  • Strong understanding of internal control and accounting policies to ensure a robust control environment

  • Proficient in ERP systems and analytical tools (e.g. S4 HANA Alteryx Power BI)
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Sense of curiosity to support modernization efforts
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; confidence interacting with senior management
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and competing priorities while keeping management informed
  • Strong drive for results; can deliver and mobilize others to deliver requirements
  • Strong critical thinking skills with ability to follow a how might we path to resolving issues

  • Lead mentor and develop a team of accounting analysts fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment
