The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients staff and visitors by patrolling and monitoring premises to prevent unauthorized access vandalism theft and other unlawful activities. This position also ensures facility readiness in case of emergencies and supports overall hospital operations through presence visibility and responsive service.
Responsibilities
Performs a variety of duties to safeguard the facilitys buildings grounds and occupants.
Ensures safety protocols are followed and provides a visible deterrent to potential threats.
Patrols interior and exterior areas of the hospital and district grounds on a scheduled or random basis.
Observes and reports unusual activities safety hazards and equipment malfunctions.
Intervenes in suspicious or unauthorized activity; questions individuals detains if necessary and contacts local law enforcement as appropriate.
Assists employees patients and visitors by escorting them to vehicles or other areas as requested.
Monitors and enforces parking regulations checking for proper parking authorization.
Inspects exterior lighting and emergency access routes to ensure facility readiness.
Documents incidents and routine patrols through detailed written reports or electronic logs.
Maintains key control systems manages issuance and retrieval of employee ID badges.
Responds to emergency codes and participates in drills and real-time situations.
Performs other related duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to de-escalate tense or confrontational situations in a calm respectful and professional manner.
Ability to assess and respond to dynamic security or emergency situations with good judgment.
Excellent observational and situational awareness.
Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds including patients experiencing mental health crises.
Basic computer proficiency for incident reporting and communications.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and hospital privacy practices.
Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail.
Possess a Valid California drivers license.
Possess and maintain a Valid California BSIS Guard Card throughout employment.
Possess or complete certification in Basic life-saving course (BLS) within 3-months of hire.
Possess or complete certification in ICS-100 & ICS-200 within 3-months of hire.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Previous experience in security law enforcement or a healthcare facility preferred.
1-year of security guard experience in a health care is highly desired.
Job Type: Full-time Variable Shift
Pay: $24.00-$33.00 per hour
Pay is determined based on qualifications and experience.
