Position Summary:
This position will be part of the xEV Drive Unit team for Electric Vehicle products and will be responsible for providing Metrology support externally to customers and suppliers and internally to the plant manufacturing teams for both New Product Introduction and Mass Production activity. The Metrology Staff Associate is responsible for performing high-precision dimensional inspections of automotive components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other metrology equipment. This role ensures compliance with engineering specifications industry standards and customer requirements supporting product quality and process capability.
Minimum Qualifications (Education Experience and Skills):
13 years of experience in dimensional inspection or quality control preferably in an automotive or precision manufacturing environment.
Certification inGD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)(e.g. ASME Y14.5)
CMM programming certification (e.g.MCOSMOSPC-DMISCalypso orMetrolog X4)
Excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal organizational and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications (Education Experience and Skills):
Associate degree or technical diploma in Metrology Mechanical Engineering Technology Manufacturing Technology or a related field
35 years of experience in a metrology quality or inspection role within an automotive powertrain manufacturing environment
Well organized attention to detail and able to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
Experience developing/operating CMM inspection programs using CMM software packages (Metrolog X4 MCOSMOS)
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and program CMMs (e.g. Metrolog X4 MCOSMOS) to inspect complex components
Perform dimensional inspections using a variety of tools including micrometers calipers height gauges profilometers and optical comparators
Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications (ASME Y14.5)
Conduct measurement system analysis (MSA) including Gage R&R studies
Maintain calibration records and ensure equipment is within certification
Support PPAP and APQP activities by providing accurate measurement data
Analyze inspection results and communicate findings to engineering and quality teams
Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for non-conforming parts
Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards (e.g. IATF 16949)

Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen
Ability to use hand measuring devices measuring equipment (Microscope Surface Tester Contracer etc.
Software:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (excel powerpoint word) for data summary and analysis
Intermediate level proficiency with CMM software and measuring program development
SPC (Statistical Process Control) software (excel Minitab etc.)
Gage Management Software (Gagepack GageTrack etc)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Will not supervise
