Job Description

The University of Iowa CommunityClinicsis seeking a patient centered60% Staff Nurse (24 hours a week)to work in ourUICC North Dodge Neurology Clinic.Our Neurology Clinic provides consultation services evaluations diagnosis and treatments for adult patients with a broad spectrum of disorders affecting the nervous system. Our general neurologists are committed to providing specialized care with a generalist perspective ensuring an innovative effective and personalized approach and diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of neurological conditions. Patients with any neurologic problem uncertain about their neurological condition experiencing neurological symptoms or needing a neurological evaluation may receive care in the general neurology outpatient clinic.

The staff nurse within the Neurology Clinic is responsible for assessing a wide variety ofadult neurology patients and ensuringpatient care standards are position is part of adynamic environment rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care toour Staff Nurses develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitoreach family members health care history anddeliver personalized compassionate care every time to each patient.

This position will mainly support our patients at Iowa City North Dodge Clinic but could float to other clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours.

Duties to include:

  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment diagnosis treatment and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition age and psychological educational and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department division and/or unit policies procedures and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
  • Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Percent of Time: 60% (24 hours per week)

Schedule: Flexible hours; Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 5:00 based on clinic needs shifts may be 8 or 10 hours no weekends on call or holidays.

Location: Iowa City IA (and surround clinics/locations based on clinic needs)

Pay Grade: 52 - $34552.20 - $63381.60 (based on years of experience)
