Job Description

Job Title:Director of Human Resources

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consults with advises and supports the leadership team as well as faculty staff and administration in all human resources related matters
  • Maintains complete and current employee files
  • Supervises HR personnel
  • Oversees and maintains the Human Resources Information Systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Oversees and supports all recruitment and onboarding/offboarding of new employees in all positions including faculty staff administration coaches substitute teachers and other casual employees.
  • Works with leadership and supervisors to develop and execute recruitment plans and post open positions
  • Ensures recruitment efforts seek to attract a diverse pool of applicants
  • Oversee and maintain the applicant tracking portal in HRIS system
  • Oversees the development periodic review and maintenance of employee job descriptions
  • Actively fosters a culture of commitment to and care for the schools faculty staff and administration
  • Supports the employee evaluation and review process for leadership faculty and staff
  • Provides on-going coaching and feedback for supervisors
  • Provide employee assistance/coaching as needed on a variety of issues (performance behavioral personal challenges workplace issues)
  • Ensures legal and effective performance documentation including when necessaryperformance improvement plans and termination processes
  • Delivers regular performance management and legal compliance training for supervisors and leadership team
  • Assists with employee service awards
  • In collaboration with the Head of School and the Chief Financial Officer provides oversight for the schools compensation program for all employees. Prepares analysis and budgets
  • Collects and analyzes current market compensation data for all positions and makes compensation recommendations during the annual budget process
  • Oversees annual contract renewal and salary change process for all employees
  • Makes compensation and employee benefit plan recommendations designed to ensure Schools overall compensation and benefits package is competitive and attractive to current and potential employees
  • Oversees workers compensation ensuring timely filing of claims employee support audit support
  • Oversees unemployment claims responding/managing claims in a timely manner
  • Oversees the Schools employee benefit programs including plan design employee support annual open enrollment vendor relations COBRA and invoice processing. Benefits package includes group medical dental vision insurance life insurance long-term disability insurance flexible spending accounts health savings account voluntary life insurance retirement plan and paid time off
  • Responds to benefit questions as well as assist and support employees who have benefit questions
  • Collaborates with the Controller to perform semi-monthly payroll and to ensure that all employee related changes are effectively processed in a timely manner
  • Oversees quarterly taxes W2s and 1095 preparations. Ensures compliance with school policies and procedures as well as with local state and federal employment related laws and regulations.
  • Keeps school administration and employees informed of applicable laws policies and legal requirements as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the leadership team and department supervisors to develop and implement an employee training program including mandatory and recommended training. Includes but is not limited to: mandatory harassment training mandatory


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field.
  • PHR/SPHR or other human resources certification is a plus.
  • 5-8 years of prior experience providing comprehensive human resources services across all human resources functional areas including five years or more of experience in a senior role which includes supervision of staff and providing human resources consultative services to administrators/managers and employees
  • Prior experience providing human resources services in a school environment
  • Knowledge and experience processing payroll using Paycom
  • Understands the unique culture of working in a school environment with a mindset of collegiality and employee/student centeredness
  • Possesses ability to build and nurture professional working relationships across the organization and with external service providers
  • Possesses ability to influence change in a collaborative working environment. Seeks to collaborate on decisions related to human resources matters
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated competency in diversity equity inclusion and social justice
  • Is compassionate and able to empathize with others. Possesses the ability to counsel and coach others
  • Works with integrity and is trustworthy with confidential information
