Job Description

EMBLs continuing success depends on attracting motivating supporting and developing highly educated creative and talented diverse groups of people from across the world. Our 2000 members of personnel include researchers technology experts scientific services staff and support professionals.

As an intergovernmental organisation EMBL advertises all job vacancies and recruits internationally through our Talent Acquisition Team. The volume of recruitment is relatively high for the size of our organisation due to our limited contract addition to core-funded positions we attract external funding for projects requiring us to recruit specialist and highly skilled staff for shorter periods of 2-3 years often at short notice.

We are looking for an experienced HR Talent Acquisition (TA) Partner who is interested in handling the full recruitment process at both an operational and strategic level and is excited by contributing to shaping and implementing effective recruitment strategies and activities within the organisation.You play a key role supporting and influencing the hiring decisions to ensure we support EDI remain competitive and an employer of choice.

Our HR TA team is split across two of our largest sites Heidelberg/Germany and Hinxton (near Cambridge)/UK. Reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition youll join a vibrant and diverse group who provide end-to-end support to our stakeholders. We truly value teamwork and in this role youll also have a valued voice within the wider HR team and our stakeholder groups alike.

Your role

  • Partnering with a portfolio of managers providing advice and tailoring talent acquisition strategies for replacements and new hires while ensuring compliance with EMBLs Staff Rules and Regulations
  • Managing advising on and supporting the recruitment procedures including e.g.:
    • Supporting hiring managers drafting job requisitions tailored to the target audience
    • Marketing vacancies via various platforms and negotiating advertising costs
    • Organising interviews - via VC and on-site
    • Liaising with travel partners to coordinate international travel arrangements for candidates
  • Representing HR as an interview panel member coaching on best practice and supporting managers draft interview questions
  • Professionally managing offer negotiations and the explanation of EMBL terms and conditions
  • Utilising our Workday HR system for recruitment related processes
  • Partnering with HR Partners and People Advisors as a matrix team for your portfolio
  • Participating in projects to ensure that recruitment strategies procedures and techniques are effective and up-to-date
  • Representing EMBL at international recruiting events
  • Contributing to the overall performance of the HR function by proposing solutions participating in projects and liaising with other operational functions as well as external service providers

You have

  • University degree (Master or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated work experience as an Advisor or Partner level within Talent Acquisition ideally at international level
  • A high level of customer service and excellent organisational skills combined with a sense of urgency
  • Confidence and ability to engage communicate and build relationships at all levels within an organisation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively negotiate offers and attract the best talent
  • Competency based interviewing experience
  • Experience using ATS
  • Fluent English language skills and a good command of German

You may also have

  • Workday experience
  • Experience recruiting within the life sciences and/or tech sector
  • Recruitment marketing and social media skills
  • Language skills in a further language of our host countries(French Italian Spanish)

Contract length: 5 years renewable up to 9 years

Salary: Grade 5 (starting salary from 4.03102 EUR monthly after tax before 12% EMBL social security dedcutions)
