Job Description:

The Respiratory Care Instructor position is an 11-month tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start of August 2025. This position requires the effective teaching and advising of diverse students excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The respiratory care program will provide quality educational opportunities for students seeking to enter the healthcare arena as respiratory therapists to meet the healthcare needs of the community. The successful candidate will assist in developing the respiratory care program and in gaining accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care CoARC.

Once the program gains accreditation the successful candidate will teach a broad range of courses in the department with the possibility of day evening weekend or online teaching assignments as assigned. The instructor will prepare course plans and materials effectively deliver subject matter content monitor student attendance and progress participate on departmental and College committees participate in curriculum development support activities that foster retention participate in the selection of textbooks perform the assessment of student learning outcomes take part in other service and professional development activities and assist in maintaining CoARC accreditation. This position reports to the Department Head Allied Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelors degree in respiratory care a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current Florida license without restrictions by the first date of employment American Heart BLS card a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care and a minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor or preceptor for students of such programs. Successful results of a criminal background check and drug screen are required.

Pursuant to College policy it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of 435.04(2) Florida Statutes related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a masters degree in respiratory care and completion of the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program.

SALARY RANGE:

$50708.00 - $56708.00 for an 11-month contract with a bachelors degree or less.
$53458.00 - $59458.00 for an 11-month contract with a masters degree.

$58208.00 - $64208.00 for an 11-month contract with a doctorate degree.
(Entry level salary is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)

Pay Details:

Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:

164 Day Base (2025 - 2026)

All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6000) for years of credited experience to the annual salary figures above to determine entry salary.
