Service Drive Porter Job Description

Position Summary:
Service Drive Porter is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of vehicles through the service department by assisting service advisors technicians and customers. This role plays a key part in delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a clean organized service drive. Looking for a energetic person that will be comfortable interacting with guest and have the utmost respect for the guests vehicle .

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Interaction:

  • Greet customers promptly and courteously in the service drive.

  • Assist with opening vehicle doors and helping customers in and out especially elderly or disabled guests.

  • Guide customers to the service advisor or waiting area.

  • Retrieve vehicles for customers after service is completed.

Vehicle Handling:

  • Safely move customer vehicles to and from the service lane parking area and technician bays.

  • Park and retrieve vehicles in a timely and orderly manner.

  • Maintain a secure key system for customer and inventory vehicles.

  • Perform basic vehicle checks (e.g. fuel level battery status tire condition) if required.

Cleanliness & Organization:

  • Keep the service drive customer lounge and porter stations clean and organized at all times.

  • Wash and vacuum customer vehicles as requested (often included with service).

  • Remove trash debris and clutter from customer vehicles when authorized.

Support Duties:

  • Assist with loaner vehicle coordination and returns.

  • Shuttle customers to/from home work or nearby locations when needed.

  • Deliver parts or paperwork between departments or locations as requested.

  • Report vehicle damage or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.

Administrative & Miscellaneous:

  • Help service advisors with pre-checks or photos for inspection processes.

  • Tag vehicles with proper information (name RO number etc.).

  • Help maintain inventory of service supplies (e.g. car wash soap towels floor mats).

  • Follow dealership and OSHA safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.

  • Ability to drive manual and automatic transmissions.

  • Professional appearance and strong communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced environment with frequent movement between service lanes parking lots and indoor/outdoor locations.

  • Typically full-time; some weekend or evening availability may be required.
