Job Description
Job Title: Scala Developer (Contract)
Location: Denver CO (4 Days Onsite / 1 Remote)
Duration: Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Scala Developer for a contract role based in Denver CO. This position requires strong hands-on development experience with Scala and a modern engineering mindset. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop deploy and support scalable applications with an emphasis on cloud-native architectures containerization and data-driven services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop and maintain scalable backend services using Scala
- Collaborate with product managers architects and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions
- Implement containerized services using Docker Kubernetes Helm Istio or Argo
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters preferably on AWS
- Integrate and manage NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab
- Utilize AWS managed services for deployment and scalability
- Implement monitoring and logging using tools like Datadog or Splunk
- Leverage caching solutions such as Memcached or Kafka to optimize system performance
- Document APIs using Swagger (OpenAPI) for internal and external use
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5 years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Scala
- Solid understanding of MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker Kubernetes Helm Istio Argo)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes on AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog Splunk
- Working knowledge of AWS services (e.g. ECS EKS S3 Lambda RDS)
- Experience with caching layers particularly Memcached or Kafka
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and documentation using Swagger (OpenAPI)
- Proficient in CI/CD automation (Jenkins GitLab)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Work Arrangement:
- Hybrid schedule: 4 days onsite in Denver CO 1 day remote
