Performs a wide variety of skilled tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of facility electrical distribution systems and electrical equipment and components. Additionally this person will aid with the maintenance and repairs of all other building Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing systems when necessary. The individual may work independently or as part of a team to safely accomplish department objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Perform all duties following safe electrical work practices. Must be compliant with Lock-Out Tag Out Confined Space and Arc Flash programs.
Perform various Preventive and Corrective Maintenance tasks to maintain and repair facilities electrical infrastructure distribution equipment and systems. This includes but is not limited to emergency power distribution automatic and manual transfer switches variable frequency drives universal power supplies electric motors circuit breakers switches lamps and ballasts LED drivers and modules and electric door operators.
Apply analytical and manual skills in inspecting maintaining installing calibrating troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and systems.
Proficient use of electrical and electronic testing equipment and tools i.e. multimeters meggers power analyzers circuit tracers insulated hand tools.
Interface with vendors/contractors to facilitate electrical system repairs or replacements.
Assist with Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of all other building MEP systems.
Evaluate and make recommendations on electrical loads and energy savings projects.
Inspect the buildings and grounds to ensure safe well maintained conditions and advise Supervisor of needed repairs.
Must be able to prioritize work to see the needs of the patient come first. Complete work orders as assigned and in a timely manner. Record work and time electronically in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Maintain records on work projects completed; prepare written reports related to work assignments; document actions taken and present written progress reports.
Wear proper personal protective equipment while performing job duties.
Maintain inventory and recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
A comparable amount of training education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Education: Completion of an associate degree or two-year vocational/technical school in electrical systems or similar program focused on the maintenance installation and operation of building electrical systems or completion of 4 years apprenticeship in electrical is required.
Experience: 6 years work experience with power distribution circuitry lighting motors and maintenance of electrical machinery and equipment with knowledge of electronic control systems.
Electrical maintenance experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Must be able to independently diagnose electrical circuit problems on energized circuits.
Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is beneficial.
Ability to be on the department on-call schedule.
Ability to work nights and/or weekends per department schedule.
Familiarity with TJC NFPA and NEC regulations applicable to healthcare settings is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret building schematics.
Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Florida Driver License is required
