Title: Teacher Assistant Reports to: Principal Job Goal: The Teacher Assistant works with the teachers students and parents to support the spiritual educational physical and social development of students.
Performance Responsibilities: - Supervises small and large groups of students as the teacher directs in writing projects skill development testing and projects.
- Assists individual children as directed with make-up work following an absence.
- Assists with sorting mail distributing materials and work correcting assignments and assisting with bulletin boards and hallway displays as requested by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher with audio-visual equipment computer and technology
- Notifies the teacher of an unusual situation or potential problem encountered during performing assigned duties.
- Assists the teacher in walking students to the bathroom and specials.
- Assists during dismissal with car/bus duty as designated by Faculty Council.
- Recognizes and offers assistance to children in need of physical emotional and social support.
- Maintains confidentiality when dealing with parents of student and then refers all inquiries about student progress behavior etc. to the classroom teacher.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher assistant principal or principal.
- Supports and enforces all school policies.
- Attends all required school meetings and events.
- Understands and signs the terms and requirements of a formal Archdiocese of Detroit contract
Basic Qualifications: - Must have strong commitment to Catholic education and model behavior in accordance with Holy Family Regional School mission and philosophy.
- Excellent communications skills including written and verbal.
- Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player
- Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in the use of computer technology including word processing and the use of Microsoft Office and related technology; ability to maintain confidentiality
- Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapt appropriately in a ministerial environment
- The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check
- Professional bearing and clean and neat personal appearance
- Understand and abide by the Archdiocese of Detroit contract for employment and the specifications it contains regarding the expectations of a Catholic school employee.
