JOB TITLE:
Part-Time Advising Aide
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide essential support to the advising team within the College of Business by assisting students with academic planning course selection degree requirements and holistic development opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing front-line support to students through in-person email and virtual advising sessions.
- Assisting students in understanding degree requirements course sequencing and academic policies.
- Collaborating with academic advisors to facilitate student success workshops information sessions and academic planning events.
- Maintaining accurate records of student interactions and advising appointments on Navigate.
- Collaborating with faculty and staff within the College of Business to enhance advising resources and support services.
- Assisting with special projects as assigned by Assistant Director or Director of GJSSC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in business administration counseling education or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of academic advising principles college policies and degree requirements and curriculum.
- Experience working in higher education student services or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems (e.g. Banner Navigate).
- Commitment to promoting student success retention and graduation rates within the College of Business.
