Job Purpose
As Production Manager you will lead the production team in delivering safe efficient and compliant operations at our Leyland site. Your primary responsibility will be to manage performance against safety productivity quality and cost targets while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. You will also play a strategic role in shaping the sites production strategy and supporting wider site leadership goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day management of the Production department ensuring full compliance with health safety and environmental standards
Plan organise and control production activities to meet operational KPIs
Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and training programs
Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with AkzoNobel ALPS and HSE maturity
Monitor and control operational and capital expenditure within budget
Ensure timely and effective execution of daily Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings
Develop and communicate the sites Production strategy in alignment with AkzoNobel corporate standards
Stay abreast of relevant UK regulations and ensure best practices are followed
Recruit coach appraise and develop team members promoting a high-performance culture
Handle team management activities including training absence shift patterns and performance management
Promote effective problem-solving at the appropriate operational levels with clear escalation processes
Job Requirements
Proven senior-level management experience in a manufacturing environment ideally within paint milling or mixing operations
Excellent communication and people leadership skills
Strong coaching and influencing capabilities to lead change effectively
Confident in budgetary control and IT-literate
Demonstrated success in applying LEAN manufacturing and engineering improvement practices
Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced multi-batch production environment
Strong understanding of current regulations and continuous improvement methodologies
A team player with the experience and capabilities to contribute to senior site leadership
