Job Description
The Lower School at Lawrence High School is seeking a Freshman Seminar Teacher to:-To engage educate empower and support all families in becoming active and equal partners in their students learning.-Focus on school-wide initiatives that provide opportunities for engagement education and collaboration between home school and community.-To support student attendance and engagementThe Freshman Seminar position is a full-time teaching position at Lawrence High School. This position will not have an assigned counseling Duties and Responsibilities:Teach 5 sections of Freshman SeminarExhibit and maintain a solutions-orientated attitude and positive mindsetCreate a classroom environment and routines that reflect high expectations and assist students in the successful transition to high schoolDevelop high quality and relevant learning experiences grounded in the belief that all students can excel to support success in high school success planning and the current job marketImplement the school-approved curriculum and align lessons to the LHS Model of Effective InstructionCollaborate with other Freshman Seminar teachers to conduct data-inquiry cycles in support of instructional improvementModel high achievement and growth mindset for all studentsImplement and occasionally create fun engaging and effective college/career preparedness lessonsWrite effective letters of recommendation for studentsSchedule and attend college/career visits (with community partner support)Support students in building and completing individualized college/career plansSupport students transition to high schoolWorks with school counselors on a regular basis to action plan around student struggles and recognize student progressEngage with families in support of student success in all facets of ninth gradeCollaborate with staff and teams in the development and implementation of multi-tiered systems of social emotional targeted interventions at the building levelSeek out and implement feedback to improve instruction and alignment to school goalsAttend district wide trainings/meetings staff meetings and attendance meetingsParticipate in any School Climate / SEL initiatives as the school to support Restorative PracticesWork Year/Position Details: Teacher (183 days)Salary range: $56372 to $84000Other: Benefits in accordance with the Lawrence Public Schools guidelinesEQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Lawrence Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race color religion national origin pregnancy gender identity sexual orientation marital/civil union status ancestry place of birth age citizenship status veteran status political affiliation genetic information or disability as defined and required by state and federal laws.
