Job Description

The mission of the Office for Public Good Strategy and Research (OPG) is to advance institutional readiness for collaboration among students staff faculty and community partners for public good discovery. The OPG is situated in Academic Affairs which embodies DUs public good vision by advancing collaboration that supports intellectual inquiry integrative learning and public good discovery. Of the four academic areas that are core to Academic Affairs OPG programs and initiatives contribute directly to 1) Public Good Strategy and Research and 2) High Impact Practices (HIPs). The OPG includes programs centers and initiatives to advance transdisciplinary collaboration through community engagement signature work regeneration leadership and health strategies. OPG programs centers and initiatives apply DUs four-dimensional (4D) experience to key strategies to emphasize the scholarship of discovery teaching integration and application (intellectual growth) civic health (wellness) public identity development (character) and the importance of the liberal arts for public problem solving (careers and lives of purpose).

Position Summary

As a full-time staff member the Marketing & Communications Manager supports all programs centers and initiatives in the OPG by developing and implementing effective communications and marketing strategies. This role engages internal and external audiences through digital content storytelling and promotional materials. The Manager collaborates with campus partners to increase awareness of OPG programming and impact. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and is integral to a vibrant operational team that advances the work of OPG programs centers and initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies to engage internal and external audiences through digital content social media email and campus-wide platforms.
  • Create promotional materials and stories to highlight OPG programs events and community engagement efforts.
  • Maintain and update content across DU communication channels including websites newsletters and social media.
  • Design and execute campaigns that support program visibility and engagement with community partners and campus stakeholders.
  • Assess and refine communication strategies to align with university goals and audience needs.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support storytelling and branding efforts related to public good discovery.
  • Build relationships with departments and initiatives to align messaging and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Coordinate with the Recruitment & Events Program Manager to develop content for student engagement and recruitment.
  • Represent OPG on university-wide communication teams to promote public good as a key institutional focus.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in related field
  • 3 years experience in marketing and/or communication in higher education
  • Experience building marketing and/or communication strategies

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range

The salary range for the position is $57000-$60000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
