Workplace Literacy Coordinator - Burnie - 0.4FTE position
This position is 2 days per week for 11 months. The pay rate for the position is $90000 per annum pro rata (plus super).
The position is funded through the 26TEN Employer Grants and as such Work & Training are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced educator that meets the requirements of an Adult Literacy Trainer to deliver this project.
About the Project
Work & Training operates across Tasmania and has around 50 staff based in offices located in Launceston Devonport and are committed to increasing the skills and employment opportunities of all Tasmanians including working with indigenous and culturally diverse people long-term unemployed and people with a disability.
The role will involve working closely with Managers and Coordinators at City Mission in role will support the literacy needs of staff and volunteers working within a number of social enterprises.
Many of the staff and volunteers will be working in a retail environment and benefit from specific skills for their individual job roles such as retail specific reading writing numeracy digital skills and oral communication.
The successful candidate will be involved in analysing literacy skills within job roles identifying skills gaps developing individual training plans developing learning and assessment resources and delivering training according to individual needs.
We are seeking an experienced workplace trainer or educator that has excellent communication and consultative skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Key Selection Criteria
Knowledge and/or experience of working in a social enterprise and/or retail environment
Excellent planning and organisational/time management skills with the ability to prioritise important tasks
Ability to work autonomously and use own initiative
High level of communication skills both oral and written
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills
Essential Requirements
Adult Literacy Skills Trainer (26TEN) requirements:
oA teaching or education qualification (TAE Certificate IV or higher TESOL or Bachelor Degree)
oA minimum 2 years experience teaching Language Literacy and/or Numeracy to adults
oAn understanding of the issues surrounding adult literacy
oA knowledge of and an ability to apply the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) or the ability to quickly gain this knowledge
Drivers Licence and the ability to travel to different worksites
It is a requirement of the position to undertake an Australian Federal Police (AFP) National Police Check prior to appointment.
Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration
Must be eligible to work in Australia
