Position Summary
The MLC Director leads the Midwest Leadership College in its mission to raise up and train ministry leaders for the Upper Great Plains and beyond. This role oversees all areas of the programincluding academics student life discipleship practicum development and mentorshipwhile fostering a Spirit-led environment where students grow spiritually discover their calling and pursue their educational goals through accredited learning pathways.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Academic Oversight & Educational Excellence
- Provide oversight and accountability for the academic quality of the MLC program.
- Serve as the Site Supervisor for SEU ensuring MLC maintains its status and standards as an accredited satellite site.
- Maintain high academic rigor in course content instruction and student performance.
- Collaborate with both South Eastern University and Global UniversityBerean courses for enrollment and student tracking.
- Lead ongoing curriculum planning classroom structure and teaching staff coordination.
- Conduct student academic check-ins and assessments.
2. Student Life & Community Experience
- Create meaningful and life-giving experiences that shape students during this pivotal season of life.
- Oversee all aspects of Student Life including the MLC Retreat trimester events and student participation in conferences.
- Organize and lead weekly team nights peer groups and seasonal gatherings to foster a sense of community.
- Partner with staff and leaders to cultivate a culture where students can build authentic relationships and do life together.
- Provide support systems that help students thrive emotionally relationally and socially.
3. Practicum Program Leadership
- Oversee the structure health and effectiveness of the MLC Practicum Program.
- Provide vision coaching and accountability to Practicum Leaders.
- Ensure each student is placed in a practicum that aligns with their calling and developmental needs.
- Assess practicum engagement and help students apply what theyre learning in a hands-on ministry context.
- Facilitate regular communication between practicum supervisors and the MLC team.
4. Budget Management
- Provide oversight and stewardship of the MLC annual budget.
- Work with the Executive Director and Operations Team to ensure alignment between vision and resource allocation.
- Monitor spending approve expenses and contribute to financial planning.
- Identify strategic areas to invest in for long-term program development and sustainability.
5. Recruitment & Expansion
- Lead efforts to recruit students through church partnerships campus visits conferences youth conventions and festivals.
- Develop marketing strategies in collaboration with the Creative Team to increase program visibility.
- Represent MLC at key events and maintain a positive public image of the program.
- Explore and develop strategic partnerships with colleges churches and organizations to expand MLCs reach.
6. Discipleship & Leadership Development
- Create a healthy Spirit-filled environment where students grow spiritually personally and as leaders.
- Provide pastoral care mentorship and spiritual oversight for students throughout their time at MLC.
- Assign mentors (on staff or Christian professionals) to meet with students monthly.
- Ensure students are involved in weekly peer small groups for accountability and encouragement.
- Support spiritual formation through chapel prayer teaching moments and healthy conflict resolution.
- Encourage calling discovery and leadership empowerment through intentional conversations and development opportunities.
Education
A four-year Bachelors Degree is required with preference given to a pastoral or other ministry-related degree.
Experience
Successful candidate should have at least 4 to 5 years related experience.

About Evangel
Evangel was started in 1928 because two brothers had a passion to reach the community of Bismarck for Jesus. Through the years Evangel has grown into a church with a regular weekend attendance that surpasses 3000 people joining across all its campuses. The church is served by a dynamic group of Elders and church staff who give direction and oversight to the church. First Trimester Goals (First 120 Days)
- Establish a Functional and Inspiring Learning Environment
- Finalize setup of the new student learning space ensuring it is fully equipped organized and conducive to academic success.
- Gather feedback from students and staff on space functionality and make any necessary adjustments to better meet student needs (technology seating atmosphere etc.).
- Launch the 1st Year Exploratory Practicum Track
- Implement a structured exploratory practicum pathway for undecided first-year students including rotation schedules reflection tools and supervisor guidance.
- Onboard practicum hosts and communicate expectations to help students explore multiple ministry areas with clarity and support.
- Build Structure for the MLC Mentorship Program
- Formalize mentor expectations meeting rhythms and training resources for mentors.
- Ensure each student is paired with a mentor by the end of the trimester and has a clear understanding of the mentorship process and goals.
- Strengthen the Discipleship Pathway
- Maintain the current discipleship framework including peer groups team nights and pastoral care rhythms.
- Identify 23 key areas of improvement and implement enhancements that deepen spiritual growth and relational connection for students.
