Job Description

Substance Abuse Counselor Opportunity:

The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor or Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) is a member of the Lakeside Recovery multidisciplinary team and plays a key role in helping patients with SUD primary or co-occurring mental health diagnoses navigate the steps toward recovery through individual and group counseling and recovery-oriented activities and assessments.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The pay range for this role is $29.45 - $32.00 based on experience and education.
  • This is a full-time on-site position working 8:00am 4:30pm.

  • As an employee of NCHC you could be eligible for the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The WRS is a hybrid defined benefit plan. What Qualifies You:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Human Services related field
  • Current Wisconsin SAC SAC-IT or CSAC certification
  • 1-3 years experience in a Behavioral Health or SUD services position
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Services related field
  • Current Wisconsin CSAC certification
  • 3-5 years experience in a Behavioral Health or SUD services position

What a Substance Abuse Counselor does at NCHC:

  • Maintains regular on-site attendance
  • Provides daily planning and provision of therapeutic and psychoeducational mental health and SUD/recovery-focused curriculum including daily provision of groups and therapeutic activities
  • Engages Lakeside Recovery clients in exploration of treatment options and services
  • Helps clients identify treatment goals by creating treatment plans.
  • Conducts initial SUD assessments and ASAM assessments for clients with presenting SUD issues
  • Follows the daily program schedules and ensures the direct care team is following the schedules as well
  • Responsible for timely completion of group and assessment documentation.
  • Participates in CPI training and assists Acute Care Department staff with client safety restraint & seclusion as necessary
