Heres What You Need
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
- Graduate from accredited Phlebotomy training program (preferred)
- 1-2 years Phlebotomy experience (strongly preferred)
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire (preferred)
- Demonstrates effective communication and organizational skills.
- Familiar with standard concepts practices and procedures within field.
- Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
- Strong customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
What You Will Do
- Assembles equipment such as tourniquet needles disposable containers for needles blood collection devices gauze cotton and alcohol on work tray according to requirements for specified tests or procedures.
- Verifies and/or records identity of patient or donor.
- Draws and collects blood samples from patients verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood.
- Sends specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house.
- Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs equipment records and checklists.
- Identifies problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and takes appropriate action including supervisor notification.
- Orders and maintains supply levels for all equipment and services provided by laboratories.
- Performs in house laboratory testing as directed by the practice.
- Participates in special project and/or completes other duties as assigned.
