Job Description

Heres What You Need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
  • Graduate from accredited Phlebotomy training program (preferred)
  • 1-2 years Phlebotomy experience (strongly preferred)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire (preferred)
  • Demonstrates effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiar with standard concepts practices and procedures within field.
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
  • Strong customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

What You Will Do
  • Assembles equipment such as tourniquet needles disposable containers for needles blood collection devices gauze cotton and alcohol on work tray according to requirements for specified tests or procedures.
  • Verifies and/or records identity of patient or donor.
  • Draws and collects blood samples from patients verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood.
  • Sends specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house.
  • Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs equipment records and checklists.
  • Identifies problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and takes appropriate action including supervisor notification.
  • Orders and maintains supply levels for all equipment and services provided by laboratories.
  • Performs in house laboratory testing as directed by the practice.
  • Participates in special project and/or completes other duties as assigned.
