Job Description
- Assist senior estimators with takeoffs quantity surveys and pricing for structural steel bids.
- Interpret structural and architectural drawings specifications and project scopes.
- Participate in job walks pre-bid meetings and project handoffs.
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing and lead times.
- Learn to develop and submit accurate competitive bid proposals.
- Coordinate with shop and field teams to ensure estimates align with real-world production and installation.
- Organize and maintain bid documentation and tracking systems.
- Embrace training and mentorship to grow into an independent Estimator role.
- One or more of the following:
- Experience as an Ironworker or Steel Erector
- Structural steel shop fabrication background
- Foreman or Superintendent experience in steel construction
- Project management in structural or miscellaneous steel
- Desire and ability to learn steel estimating through structured training.
- Familiarity with construction drawings and steel terminology.
- Strong work ethic attention to detail and ability to follow through.
- Basic computer proficiency especially with Microsoft Excel and PDF tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid drivers license and ability to attend site visits as needed.
- Experience with steel erection sequencing or jobsite logistics
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Tekla EPM or other construction/estimating software
- Exposure to change orders RFIs or submittals
- Previous Estimating experience
