Job Description

Consultant/Specialist Paediatrician
Salary package up to $380,000 Visa/Sponsorship for eligible candidates

We are seeking Consultant/Specialist Paediatrician to join a dedicated team, providing specialist paediatric care to inpatient and ambulatory patients across the Hospital, regional hospitals, and remote communities. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to postgraduate education and supervise paediatric trainees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist care for children admitted to the general paediatric ward, including after-hours cover
  • Conduct regular ward rounds and outpatient clinics, incorporating supervision and teaching of junior staff
  • Deliver outreach paediatric services to regional hospitals and remote communities
  • Offer specialist advice to non-paediatric colleagues locally and in remote centres
  • Engage in continuing medical education, teaching, peer review, research, and quality improvement
  • Collaborate on policy, procedure, and guideline development in line with best practice
  • Model exemplary leadership to foster a positive workplace culture
About the Hospital
  • 360-bed teaching hospital, servicing a population of over 140,000
  • Diverse patient mix, including urban, regional, and remote communities
Essential Criteria
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (or eligibility)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (or RACP substantially comparable)
  • Skills in acute, developmental, and behavioural paediatrics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-culturally
  • Commitment to Indigenous health, child protection, and trauma-informed care
  • Dedication to ongoing education, teaching, research, and quality improvement
