Job Description
As an engineer on the Design Tools team youll build design and refine features in SF Symbols Asset Catalogs and internal design tools that enable the unique experiences of Apple Platforms. Youll integrate feedback from customers and Apples internal design and engineering teams to improve our applications. Youll represent your team cross functionally working with colleagues across Apple as we advance our tools and SDKs. Youll shape our SDKs and enable innovative new features in applications across our platforms through be most successful as a self-motivated engineer with initiative and a solution oriented approach. Youll thrives in a supportive respectful and balanced work environment with interesting and ambitious problems to tackle. Youll have constructive design discussions learn from your team and use your experience to make sound engineering Apple youll have access to the engineers who create Apples frameworks tools and operating systems stack bringing an incredible amount of knowledge clarity and context to the features youll developer tools youll have the unique opportunity to directly improve your development environment by building features for the tools youll use every day. As an engineering on Xcodes Design Tools team your primary contribution will be:*Working with designers and frameworks teams to shape and scope features* Developing in Swift and occasionally Objective-C* Improving performance fixing bugs and writing tests* Collaborating through pull requests in-person conversations and Slack* Triaging feedback from internal and external customers to steer quality usability and features investments* Wholistically prioritizing scoping and scheduling features
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Thorough understanding of computer science fundamentals
- Passion for continually accelerating development through better tools
- Appreciation for engineering practices that maximize maintainability and quality
- Established history of leadership and self-direction
- Keen understanding of task selection and prioritization
- Recognition of opportunity cost
- Positive respectful and solution oriented outlook
