Intensive Care Unit RN (Direct Hire)
Location: Andover KS
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Salary: $35 to $38 per hour plus benefits
Schedule:
Evening/Night: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
Weekend: Friday 11:00 PM Sunday 11:30 PM
Holiday: Six major holidays paid at 150% of base rate
All differentials are stackable.
Position Summary
The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients. This includes comprehensive assessment direct physical care evaluation teaching and emotional support as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Essential Job Functions
Patient Care & Assessment
- Perform systematic and ongoing assessments based on diagnoses tests and clinical indicators
- Evaluate patient responses to medical and nursing interventions
- Identify developmental cultural and educational needs of patients and families
Care Planning & Implementation
- Provide direct care and oversee delegated care according to established care plans
- Use critical thinking to assess the effectiveness of care and interventions
- Support patient/family lifestyle adaptation through education and counseling
- Ensure care delivery is compliant with Kansas Nurse Practice Act
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient care needs
- Communicate clearly on patient progress and changes
- Participate in systems that enhance communication and input on care delivery
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately document assessments interventions and outcomes in line with hospital policies
- Adhere to OSHA guidelines and infection control standards
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and hospital information

- Engage in continuous education and skill development with mentorship support
- Promote ethical practices and participate in resolution of ethical dilemmas
- Advocate for patient rights dignity and shared decision-making

Education & Training Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited program - Required
- Nursing diploma program (completed on or before the 1980s) accepted in lieu of a degree
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Preferred
Licensure & Certification Requirements:
- Active Registered Nurse License issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing - Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Preferred upon hire required within 6 months of hire
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Preferred upon hire required within 6 months (ICU RNs only)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification - Required within 6 months of hire (ICU RNs only)
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience - Required
- Prior ICU experience strongly preferred
