Job Summary:
This role is for a Sterile Processing Technician responsible for the decontamination assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. The technician will work in various areas of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) including sterile processing decontamination and assembly/wrapping and will float to different units within the hospital as needed. The position requires a minimum of four years of experience for first-time travelers and proficiency in various sterilization techniques and equipment.

Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate assemble and wrap surgical instruments and equipment.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment (autoclaves washers ultrasonic cleaners).
- Sterilize instruments and supplies using various methods.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols.
- Float to various hospital units (OR Womens Center L&D ICU ER General Surgery Urology and outside practices).
- Perform tray preparation (268 trays/day) and peel-pouched item processing (830 items/day).
- Participate in unit orientation and hospital orientation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience (required for first-time travelers; 2 years minimum for experienced travelers).
- Experience with Davinci surgical system washers ultrasonic and cart washers.
- Sterilization and decontamination experience.
- CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification.
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with Censitrac Steris autoclaves/sterilizers EPS vPRO Sterrad 100S Sterrad NX and Trophon.
- Experience with case cart management.
Special Considerations:
- Must be willing to float between different hospital units and areas within SPD.
- Rotating weekend and holiday work is required.
- 8-hour shifts (30-minute lunch) with potential for overtime.
- 13-week contracts accepted.
- Maximum 7-day return-to-office (RTO) period for Aya Auto Offer.
- Handles all surgery cases (General Ortho Neuro Neuro Spines Robotics ENT Urology Plastics OB).
- Two-day unit orientation plus a week of hospital orientation.
Scheduling:
- 8-hour shifts (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) with possible weekends.
- 40 hours per week may be offered.
- Rotating weekend/holiday schedule.
- Unit schedules/block scheduling.
