About PPL

Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering low-income individuals and families to become self-reliant through integrated services in housing employment and education. We believe in the power of community and the potential of every person.

Job Summary

The Director of Equity Learning and Belonging will provide vision and leadership in promoting a workplace culture that values collaboration shared responsibility and accountability. The Director will work across departments and externally to build on PPLs strengths to engage convene and partner with staff residents/participants youth to address gaps in internal and external communities. Director will partner with the Chief People Officer Senior Director of HR and other leaders across the organization in guiding strategic efforts fostering staff engagement and culture and supporting talent development that prepares PPL staff to work with and in communities.

Key Responsibilities

Race Equity and Inclusion (40%)

  • Executes in conjunction with the Chief People Officer an integrated equity belonging and inclusion strategy within the organization with demonstrable measurable results.
  • Infuse knowledge and best practices related to race equity across PPL in all programming communications internal culture building and staff development.
  • Develop and implement a consistent set of racial equity/cultural competency trainings to promote cultural understanding deepen our drive for equity and inclusion.
  • Partner with Senior Director of HR to support employee relations issues policies and practices

Community Belonging and Public Policy (10%)

  • Work with the co-chairs and the members of PPLs Public Policy Committee and internal departments to determine the impact of regulatory proposals and legislation.
  • Monitor the political environment and identify opportunities to advance local policies that benefit PPL and the community.
  • Represent PPL on select external public policy partnerships across the Twin Cities.

Learning and Talent Development (40%)

  • Support PPL Emerging Leaders and leadership Scholars programs through module development program planning and facilitation and execution.
  • Coordinate plan and manage agreements with internal and external experts to provide learning & development modules to PPL staff.
  • Develop and maintain the programming for PPLs DEI library.
  • Support the development of programming and facilitation training for affinity spaces race equity series Intercultural Development Inventory Courageous Conversations About Race and Mental Health First Aid.

Leadership and Administration (10%)

  • Chair the Race Equity Advisory Team which functions as council to the Chief People Officer.
  • Hire and supervise Ameri Corp worker and interns as needed to support race equity work and programming.
  • Develop and maintain race equity budget

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position supervises alternative staff such as Ameri Corp Worker and/or interns. Importantly the position will need to learn from leverage and influence a variety of leaders across PPL.

Qualifications

  • 5 7 years professional experience in community outreach and engagement including direct experience working with community organizations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the state local and community environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity and disparity reduction and understanding of the needs of low-income communities we serve.
  • Proven leadership and success in engagement and collaboration at the individual community and organizational levels and strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with the demonstrated ability to engage and influence others.

Hours: Full time Exempt

Salary:$90000-$115000/ annually
