ABOUT THE POSITION

MAINTENANCE WORKER (PART-TIME)
HOURLY RATE: $23.60-$30.78
PLUS AN EXCELLENT BENEFITS PACKAGE

SUMMARY: Under general supervision performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled construction maintenance and repair of City streets parks and facilities landscape city-wide graffiti abatement plumbing irrigation systems trees alleys and traffic signals for the Public Works Department; operates vehicles equipment and tools in accordance with all safety regulations and quality standards. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Training and Experience Guidelines:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of maintenance work experience or repair work.


Knowledge of:
  • City policies and procedures.
  • Basic tools and equipment used in streets parks facilities and grounds maintenance.
  • City safety rules and regulations occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Proper use and storage of hazardous chemicals used in the workplace.
  • City geography streets landmarks and facility locations.

Skill in:

  • Operating and maintaining power and hand tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Following and maintaining safety standards.
  • Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relations with other employees.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.


License and Certifications:

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Class C California Drivers License and maintain a satisfactory driving record during employment.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a California Traffic Control Flagger card within one (1) year from date of hire may be required.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a CPR/First Aid/AED certification within one (1) year from date of hire may be required.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a Pesticide Safety certification within one (1) year from date of hire may be required.

City of Rosemead employees are registered as an Emergency Disaster the event of a declared emergency City employees shall initially remain at work or if recalled shall report to work after completing critical personal and family emergency responsibilities.
