Job Description

This position will begin with the 2025-26 school year. Salary based on experience for placement on the pay grid. Full benefits package available. Services to be provided in Iron County with some duties in Dickinson County if needed. This job posting will be open for intial consideration through Thursday August 7 2025 at 3:00 p.m. CDT.

Title: School Social Worker - Special Education

Report To: Director of Special Education

Length of Contract: Negotiated School Calendar and In-service hours per the current MasterAgreement

Union & FLSA Status:EA Union Exempt

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work approved by the State Board ofEducation
  • Satisfy the requirements of Special Education Rules
  • Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid drivers license.

General Description:Identify through assessment students with severe behavior and/or emotional problems who may be in need of special education. Provide a link between home school and community to enable students and their families to overcome social and personal problems which impede learning. Provide individual and group counseling consultation to teachers and other services which help students cope with their disabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify children with severe behavior and/or emotional problems.
  • Assure that each student identified is processed in accordance withestablished procedures.

  • Establish and service on a scheduled basis a workable caseload.

  • Prepare a therapeutic program designed to meet the individual needs ofeach client.

  • Record findings and recommendations which will become part of thestudents confidential record.

  • Serve as a member of IEP Team to provide psycho-social assessmentinformation relating to planning for disabled children.

  • Consult with teachers administrators and parents.

  • Complete all required written reports and billings in a timely fashion.

  • Must have regular and reliable attendance.

  • All other similar duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstration how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.
  • Adhere to DIISD Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to blood bodily fluid and tissue.
  • With reimbursement may be required to use personal vehicle toperform job related functions.
