Requirements
Education: Must hold minimum of a baccalaureate degree. Successful completion of a program of formal education as recommended by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) which has been approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAEA). The program or formal education should be twenty-four (24) months in length or equivalent
Certifications:
Experience:A total of five (5) years of experience in Radiation Therapy is required. Three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) calendar years in Clinical/Medical Dosimetry applications. The Contract Dosimetrist shall be familiar with state-of-the-art applications of Three-Dimensional Treatment Planning systems including Intensity Modulation Radiation Therapy and Radiosurgery planning. It is expected that an individual will not hold him/herself to be qualified to practice where competency has not been established.
Duties:
Independently perform complex and routine dose calculations including 3D planning electron beam TLD/diode measurements and brachytherapy procedures.
Prepare and implement external beam and brachytherapy treatment plans; perform quality assurance checks and weekly chart reviews.
Coordinate and support simulation activities including patient contouring immobilization device fabrication and CT planning setups.
Maintain accuracy and data integrity within Record/Verify systems and ensure proper documentation and billing of treatment plans.
Supervise and schedule dosimetry staff manage workload distribution conduct evaluations and support hiring processes.
Develop and implement dosimetry policies ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote standard operating procedures in alignment with radiation safety regulations.
Collaborate daily with physicians physicists and clinical staff to optimize workflow and resolve operational issues.
Serve as liaison between dosimetry therapy and support departments; contribute to system training new software integration and interdepartmental communication.
Operate and oversee radiation oncology equipment including Varian LINACs (IMRT-capable) ARIA systems Eclipse planning software and CT simulators.
Support CPT coding departmental statistics inventory tracking and equipment maintenance as needed.
