This individual will be a principal member of the OCI Enterprise Engineering Corporate Networking organization supporting the Oracle DNS platform DHCP IPAM system corporate proxy systems and Data Center WiFi operations. Primarily focused on delivering the implementation of our next-generation DNS. networking and cloud platform -to-day activities will range from leading design and discovery discussions reviewing roadmap with stakeholders prototyping and hands on DNS /networking operations work including maintenance and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a wide range of skills and experience. This individual should have the ability to understand business needs work closely with product owners and strike a good balance between business goals and technical implementations. This individual will also be autonomous and be expected to contribute to a wide range of high-impact projects across the organization.
ResponsibilitiesWork with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration technical dependencies and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack with focus on security resiliency scale and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale capacity security performance attributes and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
- Act as the technical subject matter expert with regard to the DNS/networking services used by the Oracle DNS infrastructure
- Engineer DNS service provided by Infoblox BIND BIg-IP F5 Windows along with OCI Private DNS
- Engineer new cloud-based network solutions for internal and external clients
- Design and operate next generation cloud based IPAM / DDI systems.
- Lead continuous improvement and engineering discipline maturity through Root Cause Analysis and Problem Avoidance
- Gather requirements from internal team and other stakeholders evaluate and test in a virtual lab to architect cloud solutions
- Analyze & interpret business needs to develop technical specs and design
- Evaluate various implementations to determine compliance with business needs and external specifications.
- Perform troubleshooting and coordinate problem resolution activities with engineering and support teams.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with peer organizations.
- Participate in / oversee the testing security and compliance process as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive and recent experience of DNS in a large enterprise (Configuration and Management)
- Four (4) years of demonstrated on-the-job system administration experience in Linux and DNS/DHCP support.
- Team player with excellent communication skills and positive attitude
- Hands on experience with either Ansible Chef Puppet and Terraform
- Experience with DevOps concepts and Agile software development practices
- Great documentation skills and a design and document first mindset
- Knowledge of Internet protocols and standards including DNS DHCP DNSSEC REST SSL and HTTP
- General knowledge of the following categories of network systems: routing switching firewalls
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimum direction.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and within groups.
- Should be a flexible resourceful team player that is able to thrive in a fast-paced constantly changing environment.
- Creative thinking and critical analysis are essential.
Desired Qualifications
- Hands on experience working with Oracle OCI AWS Azure or other major cloud providers
- Hands on experience with Python programming and unit testing such as PyTest
- OCI certification a plus
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent in work experience and self-study.
- Advanced degree is a plus
