Valuation Lead
This role is a key leadership position within Cignas European Actuarial team which is engaged in a diverse range of actuarial functions including reserving pricing and statutory reporting. The position reports directly to the Head of Valuation.
The primary objective of this role is tospearhead the reserving processand support both local and corporate statutory reporting for Cignas International Organisations business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee monthly quarterly and annual reporting cycles under Belgian GAAP US GAAP and Solvency II frameworks for the IO business ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Manage and mentor a team of at least two actuarial professionals fostering a high-performance culture.
- Conduct rigorous technical reviews and provide strategic oversight of reserving outcomes.
- Guide the team in delivering in-depth analysis and actionable insights to support business decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in reserving methodologies and processes.
- Communicate complex actuarial results effectively to senior management auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to broader statutory reporting initiatives across the actuarial team.
- Lead regular experience studies and recommend robust data-driven valuation assumptions.
- Champion process enhancements and cultivate a culture of operational excellence.
- Promote a balanced work environment and support professional development within the team.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on reserving practices and provide actuarial input to cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science Mathematics Economics or a related discipline.
- Fully qualified actuary (FIA/FFA or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years experience; Part qualified actuaries with Reserving experience will also be considered.
- Proven technical expertise in actuarial reserving particularly in health insurance.
- Proficiency in Prophet or equivalent actuarial modeling software.
- Demonstrated experience with Solvency II and US GAAP reporting frameworks.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Technical Competencies
- Deep understanding of Solvency II US GAAP and Health/Life insurance reserving principles.
- Exceptional documentation and reporting capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
