Description of Work
This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

This temporary position is located in Wilmington - New Hanover County.
This posting is for four (4) Environmental Technician I positions in the Bernard Allen Emergency Drinking Water Program.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality. This position is located at127 Cardinal Dr Wilmington NC 28405.
The Division has numerous contaminated private wells where no responsible party has been identified. Wells required testing to determine level of toxicity to humans and to monitor migration of the contamination plume. For health and safety policy reasons we must have two staff conduct chemical testing together. This temporary position would be involved in the well testing aspect of this work. The position would assist the primary person in charge in conducting well testing at various residences across the state. Sampling trips would be long day trips to the site for sampling and then delivery of samples to the laboratory.Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Working knowledge of the principles and practices of the environmental field to which assigned. Working knowledge of the state and/or federal rules and regulations pertaining to the area of assignment. Working knowledge of the tools equipment procedures and methods necessary to carry out assigned functions. Ability to prepare written reports and effectively communicate in written and oral form. Ability to handle with tact and consistency the diversity of public contacts demanded by work.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
