The Cook for the Friendly Kitchen is responsible for planning preparing and serving nutritious meals for the Burlington community. This role ensures all food safety standards are met maintains a clean and organized kitchen and supports the overall mission of The Salvation Army through quality service and interaction with clients volunteers and staff.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and prepare weekly and monthly menus that meet nutritional guidelines and provide variety.
- Prepare cook and serve balanced meals in accordance with established schedules.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen dining area and equipment.
- Clean and sanitize tables chairs floors and kitchen surfaces after each meal service.
- Store and rotate food and supplies maintaining accurate inventory levels.
- Follow all standard food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
- Monitor and report equipment issues or safety concerns to Corps Officers promptly.
- Ensure all necessary certifications and permits are maintained in compliance with city and state regulations.
- Interact respectfully and professionally with clients volunteers and staff.
- Represent The Salvation Armys mission and values in all interactions.
- Recognize and refer individuals with spiritual needs to the Corps Officers.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED
- Current Serve Safe certificate or willing to acquire within 60 days

- Demonstrates a friendly welcoming and professional demeanor.
- Performs all duties in alignment with The Salvation Armys mission values and policies.
- Represents and promotes The Salvation Army in a positive and respectful manner.
