Work Arrangement
Onsite. This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis at Warren or Pontiac locations.
Role
The Metrologist for GM Proving Ground and Test Laboratory (PG&TL) Instrument Knowledge Center (IKC) reports to an IKC Metrology Group Leader and is the lead for measurement policy implementation and ISO 17025 compliance tracking.
You will also interact routinely with other cross functional teams within the organization and may work with supplier companies or service agencies.
What Youll Do (Responsibilities)
Subject matter expert for measurement policy and ISO 17025 accreditation requirements
Creates implements and maintains automated processes procedures and information technology infrastructure required to support PG&TL measurements
Trains IKC staff PG&TL customers and global counterparts in GM metrology standards
Support and forecast lab standards capital and maintenance expenses
Engage with Lab Operations and Metrology Group Leader to identify new instrumentation needs and forecasts lead planning for calibration support
GM delegate member to the International Conference of Standards Laboratories (NCSLI)
Owner of the Global Engineering Equipment Tracking System (GEETS)
Follow the GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) to manage and execute GM Proving Ground and Test Laboratory business plan for the multiple campuses
Support weekly GMS Level 5 Business Plan Deployment meetings.
Support the Level 3 GMS BPD for all areas of the business.
Execute the GM DFSS process to manage measurement system automation and integration projects

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Associates degree in Applied Science Technology Engineering Computer Science or equivalent Military or Professional skilled trades education
5 years of experience supporting metrology operations based on ISO/IEC 17025 ANSI/NCSL Z-540-1 and preceding industry quality standards.
Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy in a complex environment managing multiple projects by establishing priorities and deliverables with minimal supervision
Experience defining calibration acceptance criteria
Experience developing uncertainty budgets
Experience with advanced SQL database reporting tools Sybase and Fluke MetCal
Experience using precision measurement equipment in a laboratory or testing environment
Valid US Drivers License
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Bachelors Degree in Applied Science Technology Engineering Computer Science or equivalent Military or Professional skilled trades education
10 years of experience supporting metrology operations based on ISO/IEC 17025 ANSI/NCSL Z-540-1 and preceding industry quality standards.
Proficient trainer in advanced SQL database reporting tools Sybase and Fluke MetCal
Experience designing and developing automated calibration systems
Military Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) training or equivalent professional metrology training
Experience with Measurement System Analysis (MSA-AIAG)
Experience and training in electrical dimensional physical flow rate vibration optics pneumatics hydraulics and other calibration disciplines
Experience and training in computer science databases and networking
