Job Description

TITLE: OFFICE TECHNICIAN I - SUBSTITUTE This is an on-call/as needed position

DEPARTMENT: School or Department

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
  3. Two years of clerical experience is preferred.
  4. Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities.

JOB GOALS:

The Office Technician I performs a variety of clerical type work in a designated area within the school or department.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks or may perform similar related tasks not listed.

  1. Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
  2. Develops positive relations with students parents school staff and the public.
  3. Performs a variety of clerical type work related to school business.
  4. Types materials such as letters memorandums reports bulletins and requisitions.
  5. Maintains a system of files reports and records both physical and computer.
  6. Maintains student and other specialized records.
  7. Screens visitors.
  8. Operates office machines.
  9. Places and receives phone calls.
  10. Assists other office staff.
  11. Maintains a schedule of appointments.
  12. May arrange for after hours use of school facilities.
  13. Orders and maintains supplies.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of:

  1. District policies operations and organization.
  2. Interpersonal skills including tact courtesy and diplomacy.
  3. Communication (telephone email etc.) etiquette.
  4. Office equipment procedures practices and equipment including computers and related software.
  5. Modern office equipment including personal computer and related software.
  6. Office systems and procedures.
  7. English language spelling and grammar.

Skill and Ability to:

  1. Work cooperatively with others.
  2. Establish work priorities to meet schedules and timelines.
  3. Maintain files records and reports.
  4. Operate modern office equipment including personal computers and related software.
  5. Maintain a calendar of appointments.
  6. Type a minimum of 40 WPM.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print.
  2. Requires the mobility to stand stoop reach and bend.
  3. Performs lifting pushing and/or pulling which does not exceed 50 pounds and is an infrequent aspect of the job.
  4. Is subject to inside environmental conditions.
  5. May be required to work at a video display terminal for prolonged periods.

REPORTS TO: Principal Assistant Principal Director or Superintendent

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal Assistant Principal Director or Superintendent in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy for evaluation of classified personnel.

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT:Substitute / On-Call only

SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Classified Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
