About the Role:
Wileys prestigious Physical Sciences portfolio including Advanced Materials and Angewandte Chemie is looking for a dynamic and ambitious individual to join the team as Editor-in-Chief. You will use your background in scientific research your knowledge of the publishing landscape and your strong communication and networking skills to drive the strategic development of one or more journals as Editor-in-Chief with a focus on Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry while working collaboratively across the full Physical Sciences portfolio. As Editor-in-Chief you will also be involved in the peer review process and decision-making of submitted manuscripts and ensure adoption of best practices and highest ethical standards in publishing.
How you will make an impact:
- Leverage your network knowledge of the subject area and its development and desk research skills to drive content acquisition and submissions growth within the Physical Sciences portfolio.
- Strategically develop one or more journals from scientific and publishing perspectives within the context of the broader Physical Sciences journals portfolio.
- Coordinate and drive commissioning activities to ensure a consistent pipeline of submissions.
- Establish and maintain a strong network of scientists who are journal authors peer reviewers and board members.
- Represent Wiley and the Physical Sciences portfolio at conferences and through in-person and virtual outreach activities at universities and research institutes.
- Contribute to the editorial evaluation peer review and decision-making for submitted manuscripts.
- Collaborate with your manager and colleagues to establish a team culture of trust respect and high performance.
What we look for:
- A PhD degree in chemistry applied chemistry chemical engineering or a related discipline with an excellent research background and deep understanding of recent subject-area trends and developments.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a flexible and innovative approach to problems and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes.
- Ability to work in a collaborative setting and achieve results through personal influence and engagement.
- A self-motivated diplomatic and flexible approach with outstanding organisational and time management skills and an excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal).
- A strong understanding of scientific publishing including publishing trends open access content development commissioning and peer review.
- Prior experience in the publishing industry preferably five or more years is highly desired.
- A keen interest in science communication and a strong desire to advocate for innovations in publishing and open research.
- Confidence to present and represent the journal portfolio at conferences and through institute visits nurture existing contacts and develop new networks including the willingness to travel.

We are committed to fair transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wileys good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to geographic location skills and competencies.
