Job Summary

Arapahoe Community College is seeking a compassionate and knowledgeableDisability Access Services Specialistto join our team in advancing access and belonging across campus. This role is essential in supporting students with disabilities through individualized accommodations advocacy and collaboration with faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of disability law a commitment to Universal Design for Learning and a passion for student success. As a trusted campus resource the Specialist will help foster a culture of accessibility and continuous improvement ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess student needs and create tailored accommodation plans that support academic success.
  • Collaborate with faculty to remove barriers to learning and ensure compliance with ADA/504 guidelines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on accessibility in higher education offering consultation and training.
  • Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of accommodations and recommend improvements.
  • Advocate for inclusive practices across campus to support a diverse student population.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Education Special Education Social Work Disability Social Justice Accessibility or a related field from an accredited institution;ORa Bachelors degree in one of these fields and at least two (2) years of experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities mental health conditions or other physical conditions that impact learning or daily functioning in an educational setting.
  • Teaching or training experience with a strong understanding of Universal Design for Learning and classroom modalities and the ability to apply these principles effectively.
  • Knowledge of disability law (including ADA and Section 504) critical pedagogy student development theory and best practices for supporting diverse student populations.
  • Ability to interpret diagnostic evaluations for both apparent and non-apparent disabilities and apply appropriate assessment accommodation and intervention strategies.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written with the ability to engage effectively with students families faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent collaboration problem-solving organizational and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience connecting students with external resources and community supports.
  • Background working with high school-aged students or in transition programs.
  • Experience developing support programs for individuals with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology including prescribing training or usage.
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.
