This is a8 hour per day 200 days per year Administrative Assistant I Language Access and Attendance Support Specialist position with benefits at the District Office. Anticipated start date is September 2 2025.

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide administrative support to the Equity Family and Community Partnerships Department to maintain compliance with district policies and state and federal laws pertaining to attendance re-engagement in secondary schools and language access district-wide to increase academic success for students; respond to family and staff questions.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide confidential administrative support to the Director of Equity Family and Community Partnerships and process various aspects of the attendance re-engagement and language access programs.
- Answer sensitive and difficult calls and inquiries from administrators counselors students and families to troubleshoot issues related to truancy attendance re-engagement and language access; refer difficult cases to the appropriate building staff to provide services and resources.
- May represent the District in the filing of Truancy Petitions and in court hearings as per Becca law requirements.
- Assist in the development scheduling and setup of meetings related to attendance re-engagement and language access.
- Attend meetings as required including some evening meetings occurring after regular working hours.
- Engage families on issues affecting student attendance truancy and language access when appropriate. Interact with community organizations to assist students and their families with issues hindering participation in school.
- Ensure that materials are available in the primary language of families as needed.
- Prepare and file annual reporting as required.
- Work with secondary schools on procedures for attendance re-engagement and district-wide language access.
- Develop and maintain an organized office to ensure accurate efficient systems including record management and filing maintaining accessibility of information prioritizing and completing tasks in a timely manner and providing for record maintenance and retention management in compliance with policy and state guidelines.
- Support the Director of Equity Family and Community Partnerships with staff training on secondary attendance re-engagement and district-wide language access policies and procedures.
- Assist and support secondary schools point of contact for attendance and re-engagement.
- Assist and support district-wide staff and families for language access.
- Coordinate and monitor interpretation and translation requests and needs for Mukilteo School District families and staff.
- Identify and retain a sufficient selection of language access services to meet anticipated demand through in-house personnel outsourced services and direct contracting among other means.
- Implement systematic methods for requesting providing and tracking language access services.
- Monitor budgets timelines and Time and Effort data; create purchase orders and personal service contracts; process invoices; record expenditures; create and maintain necessary documentation/logs for grant compliance.
- Participate in professional development opportunities or local workshops to remain current with attendance re-engagement and language access legislation and state and federal requirements.
- Organize and manage the departments staff and public website.
- Provide backup for McKinneyVento and Attendance Support Specialist.
- Work effectively across cultures demonstrate ability to engage with diverse communities and be sensitive to the needs of diverse clientele.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Comply with District Policies
- Perform related duties as assigned.

- Word process with accuracy at 40 wpm.
EDUCATION:
- High school education or its equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- Applicable office or clerical experience.
- Previous school district experience including knowledge of duties performed by various classifications of employees preferred.
- Ability to speak and read Spanish and/or Ukrainian preferred.
- Previous experience using Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Access preferred.
- Experience and/or training with cultural ethnic and language diversity preferred.
