Job Description

Our practice areas include litigation insurance defense construction defect insurance fraud investigations transportation defense and premises liability. A successful candidate has at least three years of recent California litigation experience; insurance defense highly preferred.


Job Overview:

This position will provide support to two attorneys by performing a variety of legal tasks including preparing and finalizing documents calendaring handling litigation filings managing case

files and assisting with client communication. The position is non-exempt. We are flexible with a hybrid schedule after an initial period in the office. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills is well-organized detail-oriented with a proactive approach to handling their workload. Dependability and reliability are crucial for this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in preparing finalizing serving and filing legal documents including pleadings motions and discovery requests.
  • Maintain and organize case files ensuring that all relevant documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
  • Prepare and manage correspondence including emails letters and other written communications to clients courts and opposing counsel.
  • Assist in trial preparation.
  • Communicate with clients witnesses and other parties involved in cases as needed.
  • Calendar filing deadlines and court dates ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years litigation experience as a Legal Secretary/Assistant. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
  • Type 70 wpm.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal court processes including e-filing court rules forms calendaring pleadings discovery procedures and trial preparation.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology processes and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong work ethic and takes ownership and pride in work.

This is a full-time non-exempt position with competitive compensation and benefits. The pay range for this position is $70000 - $80000 annually based on experience. A successful candidate will be team-oriented have the ability to communicate well and represent the firm in a professional manner willingness to help with coverage and be dependable and
