Job Description

The University of Washington Department of Pediatrics and the Center for Ingrative Brain Research at Seattle Childrens Research Institute is recruiting to augment the cardiac research efforts of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and the Seattle Childrens Research Institute. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a program of external funding via federal agencies and/or private funding agencies/industrial sponsors.

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is a diverse team covering every pediatric and congenital cardiac specialty and has a broad network extending across 4 states in the Pacific Northwest.

The successful candidate will support either one of our current academic directions or a novel direction applicable to the interests of our team. Our scholarly pursuits span outcomes research device and drug trials translational research and basic scientific inquiries. Our basic science research includes heart and vascular development cardiopulmonary bypass basic heart failure mechanisms and resilence and Kawasaki Disease.

Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research and service.

As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1400 academic appointments including approximately 650 paid faculty members 134 residents 70 ACGME fellows 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Childrens Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Childrens Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Childrens UW Medicine and FHCRC) and are part of the Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors MD $21446- $32168 per month ($257352- $386016 annually) Professors MD $27515 - $41273 per month ($330.180 - $495273 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of any base salary provided through the Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan (for MD in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in university benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Childrens University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors with PhD $13750 - $16667 per month ($165000 - $200004 annually) Professors with PhD $16667 - $27084 per month ($200004 - $325008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.

Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).



Applicants should possess PhD and/or MD (or foreign equivalent).

Clinical work is optional for appropriate candidates. For clinical work must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
