Job Description

About the role:

The LLM and Agents builds end-to-end ML applications to power intelligent experiences at Samsara. As a Machine Learning Engineer you will be responsible for developing ML and generative AI solutions to enhance the safety efficiency and sustainability of physical operations. You will work closely with science and engineering teams across ML full-stack and firmware as well as cross-functional partners to deliver core infrastructure applications and services.

This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States.

In this role you will:

  • Lead zero-to-one AI initiatives collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative AI products from scratch.
  • Apply cutting-edge technologies including generative AI and LLMs leveraging the latest industry and academic research.
  • Design build and optimize ML systems ensuring scalability and efficiency across the end-to-end pipeline.
  • Champion role model and embed Samsaras cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success Build for the Long Term Adopt a Growth Mindset Be Inclusive Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 5 years experience as an Machine Learning Engineer Applied Scientist or similar role
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or another quantitative field
  • Strong proficiency in one or more common languages (e.g. Python Java C Golang)
  • Proficiency with common ML tools and frameworks (e.g. PyTorch TensorFlow Spark)
  • Experience building applications with LLMs / MLLMs
  • Proven experience with the E2E ML application development

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience leading a small cross-functional team to deliver new ML experiences
  • Experience building zero-to-one Generative AI applications
  • Experience modeling with a variety of data types including sensor data
