Job Description:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for monitoring safety programs in our workplace. This position will work with the Safety Manager to identify potential hazards and create policies to mitigate these risks. The Safety and Training Coordinator will conduct safety audits investigate accidents and injuries and provide safety training to employees.
Responsibilities:
Conduct field visits and attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks and evaluate the performance of crews to ensure they are efficiently carrying out duties assigned and using proper safety construction techniques.
Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis depending on the length of the project.
Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and HSE audits on all locations and equipment; identify areas of opportunity to reduce incidents accidents and injuries.
Coordinates secures facilitates and forecasts internal class scheduling enrollments and other related functions through the various training programs.
Maintain documentation of the companys safety procedures accidents and related events
Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident.
Assist with injury management from the initial accident/incident through the complete cycle of managing the injured employee.
Hold field workers accountable for accident/incident prevention hazards recognition and upholding the companies desired safety culture.
Assist in creating and implementing safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily.
Conduct New Hire Orientation for office and field personnel as needed.
Host train-the-trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts.
Teach onsite safety classes including fall protection excavation & confined space scaffolding electrical OSHA-10 and OSHA-30.
Educate managers and employees on health and safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation.
Conduct company-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed.
Oversee safety equipment stock and order as needed (i.e. first aid kits bloodborne pathogens kit spill kit fire extinguishers etc.)
Distribute all employee personal protective equipment (PPE). Manage order and inventory PPE. Research PPE vendors to find the best cost-effective solution.
Coordinate monthly managers safety talks and weekly tailgate meetings.
Use known education principles and stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques.
Research and recommend new training methods like gamification.
Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies procedures and standards.
-Valid Drivers License is required
-2 years of employee safety management experience in the construction industrial or transportation/logistics industries
-Bilingual in Spanish is a huge plus
-Associates degree or higher preferred
-OSHA 30 First Aid/CPR PEC certifications are preferred
