Job Purpose
- To provide effective leadership and supervision to a pod of social workers within the Children Looked After team ensuring high-quality relationship-based practice that supports children under 16 with long-term foster care or adoption plans. The role is central to achieving positive outcomes for children by fostering stability safety and emotional well-being through consistent and reflective social work practice.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Lead support and supervise a pod of social workers ensuring manageable caseloads (14 16 children per full-time worker).
- Provide regular reflective supervision that emphasises the importance of strong trusting relationships between social workers and children.
- Monitor and ensure the quality and timeliness of assessments care plans and statutory visits.
- Support the professional development of team members through coaching mentoring and performance management.
- Work collaboratively with the Team Manager and Service Manager to deliver service improvements and meet statutory responsibilities.
Essential Experience Required
- Substantial post-qualification experience in children s social care ideally within a looked-after children or safeguarding setting.
- Proven experience in supervising or mentoring social workers or students.
Essential Qualification Required
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
- Registration with Social Work England.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
- Hybrid working - 3 days per week in office
