The Opportunity

Were looking for passionate and motivated Qualified Environmental Professional Wildlife Biologists who have experience working with amphibians and are eager to come join our Triton Team!

While Triton has a large diverse team with multidisciplinary career opportunities for this role specifically; seeking out those environmental professionals who thrive working in the environmental consulting industry sector have worked with both wildlife and amphibians bring a related professional designation and can ideally step into an exciting field lead position! Although not required huge asset experience for this role entails having some familiarity with coastal tailed frogs.

What Youll Do

  • Engaging in field travel and performing various field related activities and tasks.
  • Conducting wildlife surveys including amphibian related (coastal tailed frogs) surveys and monitoring procedures breeding bird and herptile surveys pre-disturbance nest surveys nest monitoring various sensitive species-specific surveys construction mitigation for wildlife bat surveys and monitoring and herptile capture and relocation.
  • Provide field technical leadership to design plan and lead various field programs.
  • Provide technical wildlife and/or amphibian expertise support to collaborative project teams
  • Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of works and deliver quality reports and/or documentation on schedule.
  • Liaise with on-site client representatives contractors and regulators.
  • Provide quality and independent review for projects.
  • Provide an understanding of environmental Best Management Practices and advise clients accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively within the Triton corporate culture

Note: Responsibilities are based on specific candidate experience level and may evolve based on business needs and your individual growth in the role.


What You Bring

  • Relevant post secondary education (degree and/or diploma related to biology environmental studies etc)
  • Registered Professional Biologist (British Columbia College of Applied Biologists) is required.
  • Previous experience working in an environmental consulting environment having done much field work.
  • Experience working with both wildlife and amphibians.
  • Experience working with coastal tailed frogs is highly desired and considered a huge asset for this position.
  • Crew field lead experience is highly preferred but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of field settings that can range from active construction sites to remote wilderness.
  • Demonstrated experience with technical writing reporting and communication.
  • Multi-jurisdictional knowledge of environmental regulations policies permits and legislation.
  • Superior problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box to find pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style.
  • Able to provide mentorship and training for our environmental professional team.
  • Valid drivers licence from a Canadian province or territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting.

Location Work Schedule & Flexibility

This role can be based in any of our Western Canada office locations such as Vancouver BC Terrace BC Prince Rupert BC Kitimat BC Kamloops BC Vernon BC Prince George BC Calgary AB Edmonton AB and Saskatoon SK.


This is a full-time permanent position. This position entails field travel working a shift rotational work schedule working outdoors and staying in a mix of camp and/or hotel settings. The schedule can vary and is determined by client project hiring needs. For more experienced candidates there could be opportunity to do more office related work.


Compensation

The pay range can be anywhere from $35 per hour - $48 per hour based on candidate experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for overtime pay and many of the field travel shift schedules entail working overtime hours (overtime pay is determined as per provincial employment legislation requirements).
