ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Instructional
Identifies students who perform at orshow the potential to perform at outstanding levels.
Provideshigh-quality instruction based on best practices to a classroom of identifiedstudents in assigned grade level or subject area classrooms.
Develops articulated curriculum thatis in depth and requires high levels of thinking.
Provides opportunities to createextensions and connections across disciplines for classroom teachers.
Responds and teaches appropriately toaddress the social and emotional needs of gifted students.
Usestiering flexible grouping and other differentiation strategies that challengegifted students.
Implementscurriculum models and educational initiatives from the Gifted & TalentedOffice.
Planslessons and activities with other Gifted Specialists on a monthly basis.
Collectsand analyze formative and summative assessment date for the purpose of planningof instruction.
Maintainsa grade book and completes report cards.
Constructsand keeps Written Education Plans for your gifted students.
Coordinatesinstruction with general education classroom teachers.
UtilizesBlackboard or other learning management system to deliver instruction via theweb.
Plans and executes academic optionsand enrichment programs.
Consultation
Consults with school personnel aboutways to develop and adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies forgifted learners and promote the cluster classroom teachers use of tieringflexible grouping and other differentiation strategies to challenge gifted andhigh-achieving students.
Workscollegially with the staff of the assigned buildings.
Develop and facilitate staff-developmentactivities.
Provides teaching demonstrations tomodel appropriate teaching practices or classroom management strategies.
Communicates with parents and othersabout the characteristics and educational needs of gifted students.
Work with cluster teachers and giftedclassroom teachers to determine short and/or long-term goal setting for giftedstudents evaluation/assessment.
Advises school personnel in thestrategic planning process and development of SCIP.
Educates school staff to address theneeds of twice exceptional students.
Works with cluster teachers to developand carry out appropriate performance-based assessments.
Provides support as a leader to allschool personnel on gifted education issues.
Serves as a liaison and advocate amonggifted students school personnel parents and community members.
Collaborates with school personnel inregards to referrals for individual alternative testing.
Shares with building staffadministrators and parents the Acceleration Policy which was adopted by theBoard of Education in August of 2006. Facilitate whole grade and subjectaccelerations within a school.
Other
Assists with individual student testing.
Communicates with supervisor buildingprincipals and team members as needed.
Submits an exit summary to theprincipal directly after school visits (cc: supervisor through digital dropbox).
Attends and participate in bi-weeklyProfessional Learning Communities (PLC).
Submits monthly calendars and follow otherrelated office procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in degree may be required for select roles.
Valid Ohio teaching and Talented K-12 certification or endorsement.
Minimum of three years classroom teaching
