Job Description

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a skilled Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support the security posture and authorization requirements of physical security systems. The ISSO will maintain operational security compliance support Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities and collaborate closely with system stakeholders Information System Security Engineers and System Administrators. This role requires deep understanding of the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) continuous monitoring and compliance with applicable cybersecurity regulations.

The ideal ISSO will manage daily security operations for assigned systems and ensure secure configuration incident response readiness and lifecycle management of authorization documentation.

Location: Washington D.C.

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop implement and maintain information security policies procedures and standards
  • Prepare review and maintain NIST SP 800-53 based ATO documentation packages
  • Coordinate with system owners and engineers on the production and collection of security artifacts
  • Monitor information system environments and manage security posture across authorization boundaries
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable federal and organizational security standards
  • Track and maintain accurate device inventory in InfraLink
  • Oversee physical/environmental protection incident handling personnel security and awareness training
  • Coordinate and approve changes to system hardware software or firmware with the ISSM and AO/DAO
  • Ensure audit logs are collected reviewed and retained; report any anomalies
  • Support system recovery efforts ensuring security controls are reinstated
  • Maintain and test incident response and continuity of operations plans (COOP)
  • Notify the ISSM of any system changes that may impact the authorization decision
  • Perform continuous monitoring activities and update security documentation as needed

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree and 5 years of professional experience or High school diploma and 9 years of professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience developing and maintaining NIST SP 800-53 ATO packages
  • Possess at least one of the following industry-recognized certifications:
    • Security CE
    • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
