Job Description

The following vacancy exists in the Operations Department. Applications are being accepted from those who meet the selection protocol for Operations Engineer Chief.
To be considered for this position applicants must meet the requirements of the position they are applying for as documented on the current job description.

McCOMBS MIDDLE SCHOOL
Operations Engineer Chief Class 4
Monday - Friday
Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Salary: $23.00/hour

The Operations Engineer Chief directs the work of the custodial employees in the building and assures the performance of cleaning assignments building maintenance and safety requirements.


Required:
1. Three years of custodial experience. 2. Two years of leadership experience

Applicants are subject to the following criteria:
Standard Interview selection process will apply for this posting. Not all qualified candidates are guaranteed an interview.

  • Full-time employee has been working for 12 months prior to the job posting date.
  • Must have ten (10) days or fewer of family/personal sick leave.
  • Sick leave will be calculated based on the 12 previous months from the posting date for all employees.
  • Authorized Unpaid Leave of Absences will not be taken off the record
  • All authorized FMLA leave (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record
  • All authorized Workers Comp (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record
  • Must not have any no call/no show incidents during the past 12 months from the posting date.
  • Must not have any unauthorized time during the past 12 months from the posting date.
  • Must be in an active paid status from the beginning of the will be considered by the Director of Personnel.
  • Evaluation: composite score of meets or better on the most recent staff must have one evaluation on no evaluation is on file by the end of the previous academic year it will be considered a meets evaluation.
  • Discipline: no formal discipline during the past 12 months from the posting date for all employees.
  • Seniority: if two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications the employee with the greater seniority within the department or classification (depending on the position) will be given first consideration. Exceptions regarding department or classification seniority will be considered by the Director of Personnel.

TITLE:Operations Engineer Chief Class 4

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:


Required:

1. Three years of custodial experience. 2. Two years of leadership experience

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office tools.
  3. Working knowledge of good housekeeping practices and procedures; ability to operate cleaning equipment.
  4. Working knowledge of broiler room/geothermal system operations and related equipment.
  5. Ability to present a professional appearance and demeanor.
  6. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and promote spirit of cooperation with others.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Serve as lead custodial staff in assigned facilities. Responsibilities may include coordinating staff schedule; Maintaining inventories and supplies; Conducting basic building safety inspections; Providing maintenance and repair to equipment and building facilities; and performing custodial duties. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; Specific positions requirements will vary depending on the need operations department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assure cleanliness inside and outside the building/complex.
  2. Order and manage sufficient supplies to properly maintain facility.
  3. Assist custodial specialist to ensure that preventive maintenance objectives are achieved.
  4. Assist custodial specialist in the preparation of work schedules for staff.
  5. Perform tasks as assigned by the building administration in order to meet the unique needs of the building and its occupants.
  6. Assist the director of custodial services and custodial specialists in the annual performance evaluation of subordinate employees.
  7. Perform all cleaning tasks required to maintain the facility.
  8. Communicate with operations staff to ensure the facility is properly heated ventilated and maintained during night or day activities.
  9. Provide leadership to ensure facility is secured each night to prevent loss of or damage to property or failure of mechanical equipment.
  10. Carry out all policies and procedures as set forth for building personnel in operations.

  1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.
  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned

DAYS:260 Day Calendar HOURS: 8 Hour Day

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Constant standing and walking. Frequent bending stooping reaching pushing pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying up to 10 use of telephone and computer.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent inside outside and exposure to extremes of temperature/humidity
