The Latchkey Teacher is responsible for the following jobduties:
- Dailyoperation of program which includes but is not limited to the following tasks; ensuring the safety of thestudents taking attendance collecting parent fees writing and implementinglesson plans dealing with discipline problems or other concerns immediatelyand appropriately and informing the Latchkey Office of any unusual events.
- Completing paperwork by the due datessuch as pay-ins done every MONDAYwith all corresponding paperwork sent to the appropriate places sign-in sheets(in their entirety) completed and copies sent to the Latchkey office copies ofall childcare notices / authorization letters sent to office as received postall schedules such as snack schedule bus schedule daily schedule etcpayroll sent to office by scheduled dates and copies of all registrationsforms sent to office as new students enroll.Failing to complete requiredweekly paper work may result in your contract being non-renewed for thefollowing year. Any payroll sheets notreceived by required due date will not be paid that pay period. The employee will have to wait until the nextpay period in order to get paid.
- Attendance teachers must report on time to both the morning and afternoon hours are 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 3:00-6:00 p.m.
- Prepare allstate requirements such as postings and state notebook as outlined inorientation packet. Practice fire and tornado drills monthly and documentthese drills.
- Remaincurrent in the following required in-services:First Aid Child Abuse CommunicableDisease and CPR. Send copies ofin-services to the Latchkey Office.
- Remain inthe Latchkey area at all times. If you mustleave the area notify other Latchkeystaff and return promptly.
- Move aroundthe area constantly. Do not remainseated for a long period of time. Please practice good judgment in thisarea.
- You arerequired to stay with a late child in the morning (late bus) or evening (late parent) until the child is picked upby the proper person. A late parent mustpay$1.00 for every minute they arelate per family. You must split this feewith your Instructional Assistant ifhe/she stays also.
- Checkplayground daily for dangerous items and complete form for the check.
- Keep yourfirst aid kit updated and take it on the playground with you.
- Keep anymedications locked up in the schooloffice. Follow medication guidelines when/if administering medication.
- Use thetime between 3:00 3:25 p.m. to meet with your Instructional assistant to discuss the daily activities sharelesson plans answer questions etc.
- Assist yourInstructional Assistant in the set up and clean up of snack and Center activities.
- Completeany and all forms as needed (discipline report injury etc.) and send copies to the Latchkey office.
When reporting an absence call theSEMS Systems at 365-5833 to report the absence and then call the Latchkeyoffice with the job number. Remember toindicate that you do want a substitute on the SEMS System. You must report the job number no later than 5:45 a.m. on the day of theabsence. You must obtain a PIN numberbefore you request a SUB. It is also theresponsibility of the teacher to notify the Instructional Assistant of anyabsence.
