Position Title: Development Manager Individual Giving
Location: San Francisco
Reports to: Senior Director of Advancement
Status: Full-time Exempt; Occasional evenings and weekends Hybrid option
Compensation: $66500 - 76000 plus benefits

Position Summary
The Development Manager is a key team member in Advancement stewarding our Annual Fund efforts with a focus on growing our list of small to mid-level donors those whose sustained generosity anchors the health and impact of our $2.5M annual fund. This role is both strategic and hands-on collaborating with the Advancement team on planning donor communications and fundraising events.
Core Responsibilities
Annual Fund Stewardship: 25%
Collaborate with Advancement leadership to support annual giving strategy ensuring high retention and growth across small and mid-level segments.
Draft compelling donor updates and segmented appeals in partnership with communications staff.
Monitor giving trends lapsed donor behavior and renewal opportunities using CRM analytics to inform targeted outreach.
Build our monthly giving program to grow our loyal donor base
Mid-Level Donor Engagement: 50%
Develop and manage a portfolio of mid-level donors (e.g. $250$999) implementing tailored touchpoints that honor their impact and invite deeper support.
Conduct regular outreachincluding personal calls custom emails and handwritten notesto build meaningful connections.
Identify and qualify donors for possible movement into major gifts pipeline tracking cultivation stages using moves management principles.
Donor Recognition & Reporting: 5%
In partnership with the Development and Communications Associate ensure timely personalized acknowledgment of gifts at all levels with a special focus on handwritten notes and impact storytelling for mid-level donors.
Create stewardship reports and updates that reflect donor values program alignment and tangible outcomes.
Database & Systems Management: 5%
Ensure accurate donor records and contact activity in CRM.
Track engagement milestones and generate reports to assess donor pipeline health and opportunities for growth.
Events: 10%
Support planning and logistics for donor and cultivation events including prep materials RSVPs and day-of coordination. Events include the annual Arc Breakfast the WorkLife Awards art shows and Employment Inclusion Night
With support from the Advancement team this role is responsible for cultivating and soliciting event sponsorships from corporate partners to raise a minimum of $177000 by June 30 2026.
Cross-Team Collaboration: 5%
Partner with program staff to gather stories metrics and testimonials that demonstrate donor impact.
Pull Salesforce data as needed Senior Director of Advancement and Executive Director in preparation for donor meetings touchpoints and correspondence.
Qualifications
3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising donor relations or development communications.
Relationship-builder with strong listening and written communication skills.
Proficiency with donor databases (e.g. Salesforce).
Skilled at balancing personalization with efficiency in donor outreach.
Committed to social justice equity inclusion and ethical fundraising practices.
Experience with disability is a plus
Work Environment
This position is primarily located at 1500 Howard Street San Francisco. Some work time will be spent at The Arc San Francisco satellite sites in Burlingame CA and Marin CA and in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area with organizational partners.
