Job Description

Job Summary

The Dispatcher plays a critical role in maintaining the security and emergency communication functions of the complex. This position is responsible for the 24/7 monitoring and operation of all building security systems including intrusion detection access control CCTV and emergency communication systems. The Dispatcher is expected to remain calm under pressure make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations and maintain accurate communication logs and system reports.

Travel: This position may require up to 10% travel

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Monitor all security systems at the complex including access control fire alarms CCTV and intrusion detection systems.

  • Operate the Security Dispatch Console to coordinate all roving security personnel and initiate emergency or non-emergency communications.

  • Respond to alarms system notifications and emergency incidents; escalate issues to the appropriate personnel or agencies as needed.

  • Troubleshoot anomalies within the access control or fire alarm systems and reboot systems when necessary without outside assistance.

  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of facility building layouts and campus grounds to assist in directing responses.

  • Communicate professionally via radio and telephone always maintaining composure and clarityeven under emergency conditions.

  • Accurately type a minimum of 40 words per minute with no errors to log security activity complete incident reports and document shift notes.

  • Report all security violations system malfunctions and abnormal conditions to supervisors and log all actions in daily records.

  • Monitor inclement weather alerts and coordinate response actions with the COR and appropriate personnel.

  • Submit technical communications (T/Cs) for maintenance or repair of malfunctioning equipment and ensure follow-through on service.

  • Provide consistent and reliable 24/7 emergency phone coverage for MMAC. Remain alert perceptive and ready to act in the event of any security or emergency issue.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook)

  • Proven experience working in a high-security or emergency dispatch environment preferably in a federal or critical infrastructure setting.

  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under duress especially during emergencies.

  • Familiarity with access control systems fire alarms CCTV monitoring and radio dispatch operations.

  • Competence in logging activity reports and communicating clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently troubleshoot system issues and escalate problems appropriately.

Education and Experience

  • Required: High school diploma or GED.

  • Required: Prior experience as a dispatcher security system operator or similar role in a high-security environment.

  • : Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a dispatcher of emergency services or security services in a facility the size and complexity of the MMAC. The dispatcher shall also have at least two (2) years of experience operating and administering computer-based programs dealing with building intrusion and fire detection systems

  • Preferred: Proficiency with access control software CCTV platforms and digital alarm systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods while conducting post inspections and supervising shift operations.

  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations which may require physical exertion such as running crouching or lifting.

  • Must be able to wear and operate required duty gear including firearm duty belt and radio communications equipment.

  • Must be able to operate standard security tools and devices including CCTV monitors badge readers access control systems and communication terminals.
